Hiking the Sand River is recommended at any time of the year. If lucky, you may see the beautiful Crystal Pools. The water in the Sand River flows underground over the hard, rocky substrate that underlies the dunes. After heavy rains, the water table rises to form pools.

St. Francis Bay is one of the world's great surf spots, and you do not need to be a surfer to enjoy this graceful sport. Delight in watching the followers "search" for the perfect wave!
Seals is now also the place to be for surfers from Cape St. Francis. The quiet fishing haven of Oyster Bay lies some 20 kilometers to the west, while the agricultural capital of the region is Humansdorp.
Today, St. Francis is famous for far more than just surfing; it boasts picturesque homes adorned with black roofs and white walls.
Towards Santareme and Port St. Francis, the uniformity is repeated, this time with Mediterranean and Tuscan homes filling in the dune fields and fynbos. Cape St. Francis is known for keeping things clean and low-key.
Whale watching in season July to early December – boat trips onto the bay to view these magnificent creatures.
There are two 18-hole golf courses in our village. The Jack Nicklaus designed the St Francis Links course which can be quite a challenge.
